This year, we started our pioneering camp with a trip to Pirate’s Cove, Bluewater
where we had a round of Adventure Golf and then went on the High-Ropes.
The following day, we built a friction bridge - one that doesn't use any ropes (or nails).

Our adventures start here.
There be Pirates about.
Watch out for the crocodile!
Did it just move?
Even Leaders can have fun.
An underground labyrinth.
On past the waterfall.
Aboard the Pirate ship.
The eighteenth.
Patiently queuing.
Harnesses on.
Helmets on.
Thumbs up from the balcony.
An Explorer Scout leads the way out…
Followed by another.
They make it look so easy.
The first Scout makes it out.
One of our girl Scouts.
One small step?
Another Scout sets off.
Getting confident.
Hanging around?
Getting too confident?
Nearly lost it.
Nicely recovered.
A home from home.
Staking out log benches around the Campfire Circle.
The Tripod & Flag Pole.
Marshmallows at lunchtime.
Some more marshmallows.
Even more marshmallows – you can never have enough ;-)
Starting on the friction bridge
Nearly there.
All done !
The Explorer Scouts get on first, and it nearly collapses.
Amazingly, it stays intact long enough for everyone to get on.
As we didn’t get enough friction, we try again with pits for the legs.
But it doesn’t really help…
Surfs up !
Perhaps we should call it a sun lounger?
Yet it survives!
Unloading back at the Cabin (our Scout Hut).
