Outdoor & Survival Skills Camp
3rd July 2011
One of the first badges that our young people work towards on moving up to the Scout section is the Outdoor Challenge Award.
This badge is all about learning to camp and cook outdoors, but there’s nothing like sleeping under the stars in the summer.
So, we also decided to start work on the Survival Skills badge as one of the requirements is to build and sleep in a shelter.
We started with an ”emergency tent” sold by a pound shop, and then moved on to using ground sheets and dead branches. Unfortunately, the Scouts didn’t quite make them big enough, so were unable to sleep in them.
There’s always next year though!
