Snowbound three invested at last
20th January 2010
Due to the adverse weather conditions 1st Crockenhill had to cancel their January freezer camp and were unable to invest a trio of new Scouts - which was a great shame as it would have made a great story.
Kira, George and Morgan all joined Beavers at the same time, went through Cubs together and are now in Scouts.
In the first meeting back that was snow free, all three were keen to turn up in uniform and asked when they could be invested.
Naturally the Leaders at 1st Crockenhill obliged.
Mark Price Haworth, Scout Leader said: "It was a shame we had to cancel the weekend, but we had to risk assess and agreed it just was not going to happen. Still they were just as keen to be invested on our first meeting back."
Senior Patrol Leader Sam took the three to one side, went through the Moving On Award, Membership Badge and assisted with the investiture.
Said Kira, daughter of Group Scout Leader Richard Taylor: " I was upset we could not camp as I like camping, but It's nice to be back and now that I'm a Scout I can do activities that I could only watch as a Cub"
Asked what she wants to do after Scouts, Explorers and Network, Kira said: "I want to be a leader like Mum and Dad, or be DC just like my Grandad "
It's OK Steve - Kira has a few years to go!
